Great Winter Destinations for RV Travel

Winters often force people to stay indoors where it’s warm and snuggly. However, if you’re looking for an adventure, the cold weather shouldn’t be an excuse for procrastinating. Especially after the hectic Christmas holiday, you could do with a relaxing getaway. So why not take advantage of this winter to go skiing or visit a warmer destination? You can never go wrong with these fantastic winter RV destinations.

1. Tucson, Arizona

Take a road trip around the state and indulge in various winter activities, including skiing and snowshoeing. Visit the Grand Canyon to see its beautiful snow blanket, and wind it up in the desert where you can warm up. You can also go camping in the Tucson region, a camper favorite in January. Its pleasant 66-degree climate during this time contributes to its appeal during winter. Located only 30 minutes away is the Picacho Peak State Park, which has a desert atmosphere and stunning sunsets. Visit the park in February for Spring Training and to witness the breathtaking wildflower season in full effect.

2. Southern California

California boasts the nation’s largest population for a good reason. The beaches are lovely and can be enjoyed year-round due to the relatively warm temperatures of the winter. Almost every destination between San Diego and Los Angeles is perfect for an RV trip. One great location is Dana Point, where you can park your RV just steps from Doheney State Beach. During winter, you can also go whale watching off the coast of Southern California.

3. Midway, Utah – Wasatch Mountain State Park

This park is ideal for winter camping because of its pet-friendly policies, pull-through sites, and 30/50-amp hookups. Have fun participating in winter activities like cross-country skiing and winter hiking that are available in the area. Further south of the park, you can visit the Olympic facility called Soldier Hollow Nordic Center.

4. Georgia – Crooked River State Park

At the southernmost edge of Georgia’s colonial coast lies the Crooked River State Park, which is an excellent spot for winter RV camping in the Peach State. Campers may enjoy the outdoors and the nearby canal thanks to the year-round moderate climate. Other amenities include a coin-operated laundry service, hot showers, and electric and water hookups.
